This is absolutely heart breaking news for our Country music family. We have learned that County Star Earl Thomas Conley has died.
Born on Oct. 17, 1941, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Conley charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the 1980s and early ’90s. Eighteen of those songs hit No. 1 — the third-most No. 1 songs of the decade, among artists of all genres, behind Alabama and Ronnie Milsap. He will be missed, I enjoy playing his music yet today, I can remember getting the new 45 record back in the day and being excited to play his latest tune! Rest in Peace Earl Thomas Conley.
My heart is absolutely destroyed today… I’m sad to report that Earl Thomas Conley passed away very early this morning. Earl was my all time favorite singer, hero and my friend. Prayers to his family. We will all miss you deeply my brother. Now go rest… pic.twitter.com/W75ZVV6fbe
