The Minnesota Golden Gopher football team continues to earn more respect following its big win over Penn State Saturday.
When the College Football Playoff rankings were announced Tuesday, the Gophers jumped from #17 to #8!
And while this wouldn’t get them in the get them in the “final four” with a chance to win the national championship right now, it does greatly improve their chances of getting into one of the major New Year’s Day bowl games, including the Rose Bowl.
And with games against #20 Iowa this weekend and #14 Wisconsin in two weeks, who knows where the Gophers could go with another victory or two?!
Speaking of respect, officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation announced Tuesday that Minnesota head football coach P.J. Fleck has been selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week.
According to Gophersports.com, the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
As coach Fleck says at the end of almost every interview…”Row the Boat, Ski-U-Mah, Go Gophers!”
