It won’t make Bears fans feel any better, or Cody Parkey for that matter, but the NFL officially changed Parkey’s 43-yard, game-winning attempt to a blocked field goal.
No one mentioned Parkey’s kick being blocked until postgame interviews when Eagles defensive lineman Treyvon Hester revealed he tipped the ball. It began a social media debate about whether Hester really touched the ball, with a “Zapruder film” type of frame-by-frame video of the kick.

Rewind to Vikings at Green Bay this season, Daniel Carlson Missed three field goals. Carlson missed from 48 yards in the second quarter and 49 yards in the extra period, before his 35-yard try on the game’s final play also went wide right. And of course we were there when Blair Walsh missed a chance to hit a potential game winner against Seattle at TCF Bank Stadium in January 2016.
Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal attempt that would have given his team a two-point lead in the closing seconds against Seattle. As Viking fans say, “been there…done that”, right? We could go on and on, but as for the Bears fans, your team did just about everything right to win that playoff game Sunday against the Eagles……except hit the game winning field goal, what a feeling of complete emptiness you must be feeling. Perhaps your team should have let the Vikings win, after all, they may not have even needed a game winner! As an all in, no- matter what Vikings fan…..my only advise to Bears country is….”there’s always next year right”
