A Menahga man was arrested after allegedly putting a gun in his wife’s mouth and holding it to the back of her head.
43-year-old Corey Burton of rural Menahga has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felonies — second degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court records, on Monday, September 7, a woman reported that she and her husband had been drinking and arguing. At one point, she went outside.
Burton locked the house door and told her to leave, but she got into a car and called authorities. That’s when Burton pulled a 9-millimeter handgun on her and put it in her mouth before pointing it at the back of her head.
Authorities said surveillance video from the house backed up the woman’s story.
Court records show that Burton was convicted of felony third-degree controlled substance crime in 2005 and felony possession of meth with intent to manufacture in 2009, and so he cannot legally possess guns or ammunition.
