New Opening Song For Monday Night Football

In case you missed it…there’s a new opening song this year for Monday Night Football.

For the 2020 season, ESPN is using an updated version of of “Rip It Up,” which was originally recorded by Little Richard in 1956.

The new rendition features some slightly changed lyrics and and backing vocals by Butcher Brown, a Virginia-based band.

The song replaces Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends,” which became known as “Are You Ready For Some Football?” after years of use before each game.  The song had been used by “MNF” from 1989 to 2011, and then after a brief hiatus, was brought back with a remixed version from 2017 to 2019.

Here’s Bocephus’ original promo from 1989.
