One Dead In Miltona House Fire

One person died in a house fire in Milton early Sunday morning.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received two 911 calls just before 6:00 a.m. of heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the home.

Upon arrival on the scene, authorities learned that the structure may be occupied.

The Miltona Fire Department was able to gain entry to the two-story home and found one victim. The victim was extricated from the home and was not showing signs of life. Resuscitation efforts were made, but unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The State Fire Marshall’s office has been notified and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The victim’s name is being withheld until family notifications are made.
