It’s only been 5 months since COVID-19 took over our lives. But you’re not alone if you think this won’t have a happy ending.
A new survey by OnePoll finds that 75 percent of us think we’ll never go back to what was normal at the beginning of 2020. 59 percent say they’ll be afraid to go back to a shared work space again. And 36 percent say they don’t think they’ll ever be able to go back to an office without taking a chance on contracting COVID-19.
Over 60 percent in the survey believe they’ll be working from home for at least the rest of the year and that their job will never be the same. The same number of workers don’t think their boss handled the transition to working from home very well and two-thirds think their employer doesn’t understand how hard it is to work from home, especially if you have kids.
The same two-thirds don’t feel as productive as they should due to fear of COVID-19. And they also think that their employer should be more flexible with working hours even after their office opens up again.
75 percent don’t believe we’ll ever be shaking hands again, while 41 percent don’t think there will be any physical contact and 38 percent would like to work at home all the time. A smaller office, with few visitors and less office events and parties were also projected to be part of changing times.
And hiring new employees? Many believe those will be done virtually, like meetings are being done during the past 5 months.
Welcome to your new normal in 2020 and beyond.
