Amateur Hour: July 11-13 Recap

Baseball

We are now less than two weeks away from local amateur baseball playoffs! Let’s wrap up the penultimate weekend of the regular season. Now with this weekend’s games updated, let’s take a quick look at the standing for the Lake and Pine and Hi-10 Leagues.

Friday, July 11th

Vergas – 13 @ Henning – 14 (F/13)

  • Day 1 of the Henning Festival was capped off with a high-scoring extra inning affair going late into the night. I’m not sure what ended sooner… the game of the Friday night street dance!

Deer Creek – 4 @ Perham – 8

  • A pair of Pirate bombs sends Perham home happy with a big Hi-10 victory! While it may not shake the standings, it’s a great confidence builder for the Pirates with postseason baseball around the corner.

Nimrod @ Midway (at Menahga) PPD

  • Rainy conditions put this game on pause. Makeup date TBD

Ashby @ Long Prairie – 7 p.m.

Sauk Centre – 5 @ Urbank – 20

  • Bomber bats were active in a 15-run win over the Titans to claim the 2025 Resorters League title!

 

Saturday, July 12th

Nimrod – 4 @ Vergas – 3

Perham – 6 @ Henning – 2 (10 innings)

  • With the Demo Derby roaring in the background, Henning just missed making it back to back extra inning victories on the weekend as the Pirates make it two in a row!

Kensington @ Sauk Centre – PPD

  • Makeup date TBD

Clarissa – 9 @ Dent – 1 (F/5)

  • An injury to a short-handed Dent squad ends the game early as Clarissa reaches their 5th league win of the season

 

Sunday, July 13th

​Sebeka – 0 @ Bluffton – 10

  • Braves fans in the friendly confines of the newly-minted Terry Geiser Field were treated to a double-digit run win Sunday afternoon!
  • Dustin Geiser goes 5 strong with Isaac Hamann finishing the game

Alexandria @ Ashby – 1 p.m.

Urbank – 11 @ Henning – 0 (F/7)

  • Henning Days festivities were capped off with a Resorters/Hi-10 matchup between the Bombers and the North Stars!
  • Carter Simonson gets the win on the mound for Urbank
