8-Year-Old Airlifted After UTV Rollover Near Fergus Falls

FERGUS FALLS, Minn (KWAD). — An 8-year-old child was airlifted to a Fargo hospital Friday afternoon following a UTV rollover crash in a field northeast of Fergus Falls.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. near Highway 1. Authorities say the child was driving the utility terrain vehicle when it rolled while attempting a turn in a rough field.

The young driver was pinned underneath the UTV but was freed by a family member before emergency crews arrived. The child was not wearing a helmet or seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A sibling riding as a passenger was uninjured. According to the sheriff’s office, the passenger was wearing a seatbelt but not a helmet.

The 8-year-old’s current condition has not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
