
WADENA, Minn.– Wadena-Deer Creek came away with a homecoming victory against Park Region Conference foe Henning to stay undefeated (4-0) in conference play. The win also leaves WDC as the only unbeaten team in the PRC with two weeks left in the regular season.
Prior to the start of the game, with the entire WDC student body in attendance, the Wolverines honored longtime head volleyball coach Sue Volkmann with a tribute video. Volkmann will be inducted into WDC’s 2025 Hall of Fame class this weekend.
Payton Gravelle led the Wolverines with 13 kills and two service aces on the afternoon. Kennedy Ness and Jada Dykhoff each had 8 kills. Dykhoff did also rack up 3 aces.
The Hornets were paced by senior Myiesha Antoni with 9 kills, with Addison Bode (8 kills), and Alivia Empter (7 kills) weren’t too far behind.
Henning (10-7 overall) will play in the Perham Tournament on Saturday.
The Wolverines (12-9 overall) will take the week off, playing their next game on Thursday, October 9 at Verndale.
