
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 2:45PM the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call, reporting an adult male was injured from a tree falling on him. The incident took place at a rural residence, northeast of Menahga in Blueberry Township. First responders arrived on scene and found
CPR had been started on the injured party. Life saving measures continued, but ultimately the individual was pronounced dead.
It was learned the adult male worked for a private tree removal service. He had climbed up a tree to saw off the top portion of the tree. While the individual was cutting the tree, the base of the tree broke causing the tree to tip over. The individual fell to the ground with the tree falling on top of him.
The incident is still under investigation and pending family notification the deceased male’s identity has not been released.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Menahga Police Department, Menahga First Response Team, North Memorial Ambulance and Karvonen Funeral home.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the individual killed in the tree removal incident reported on October 9, 2025. Ryan Michael Mcneil, age 41, from rural Park Rapids. The incident is still under investigation.
