From Menahga Braves Girls Basketball Coach Cody Pulju,
“We graduated a senior class last year that was filled with talented basketball players and strong leaders on and off the court. They will be tough to replace, but we are confident and excited about the group we have returning. There is a lot of energy and talent in the gym, and this team is hungry for their opportunity to compete on the varsity stage.
Our lone senior, Kiana Skoog, will provide steady leadership and a strong interior presence. Representing the junior class are Mayme Pinoniemi, Julia Hendrickson, Alexis Davidson, and Claire Kapphahn. Our sophomore group includes Dreah Christiansen, Kylie Anderson, Kalle Pinoniemi, Kaisa Hendrickson, and Olivia Burkholder. Cora Pinoniemi, Lucy Hendrickson, Daniela Lake, and Alivia Niemela round out our returning roster in grades nine through twelve. We also have a great group of eighth graders joining us in the gym this winter: Eva Lehto, Avielee Anderson, Alaina Davidson, Brita Hendrickson, Lily Hendrickson, Maria Hendrickson, and Clara Holte.
Last year, we were one possession away from playing for the section title, and we expect to be right back in that conversation again. Our goals remain the same: improve every day, compete for the conference championship, and put ourselves in position to contend for the Section 8AA title.
Section 8AA will once again be filled with strong teams, but we believe we can compete with anyone on any given night. We are excited for this new team, their opportunity, and the challenges ahead.”
