OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. — Artist applications are now available for the area’s largest fine arts and crafts event, the Phelps Mill Festival. Drawing up to 15,000 visitors over two days, this highly anticipated event will take place July 11–12, 2026, at historic Phelps Mill County Park, located just north of Underwood, Minnesota. The application deadline is April 1, 2026.
The Phelps Mill Festival provides an outstanding opportunity for both emerging and established artists to showcase and sell their work in a vibrant, well-attended setting. Organizers are also excited to announce that, for the second year, applications are open to food artisans.
In addition, the festival continues its commitment to supporting new talent by offering a special opportunity for emerging artists. Three new fine artists and three new fine crafters will be selected to receive a complimentary booth space, a 10’ x 10’ canopy, and event insurance coverage.
Emerging Artist Program Requirements:
- Applicants must not have previously sold their work at a juried art festival (events where artists are selected based on submitted images and evaluated on artistic merit). Food artisans are not eligible for this program.
- Work must be original and created by the artist, from concept through completion.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Selected artists must have sufficient inventory to participate in the full two-day event.
- Artists are required to obtain a Minnesota Sales Tax ID.
- Selection will be based on jury scores, with the top three applicants in both fine art and fine craft categories awarded. In the event of a tie, a drawing will determine the final selection. Festival management reserves the right to limit the number of artists in each category.
With continued emphasis on fine arts and fine crafts, the Phelps Mill Festival offers a unique blend of high-quality artwork, live entertainment, food vendors, and an inspiring natural setting. The historic mill, scenic river, and beautiful park grounds create a picturesque backdrop for one of the region’s most celebrated art events.
