
OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. — In celebration of Law Day, Otter Tail County invites community members and school groups to an Open House on Thursday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the historic county courthouse at 121 West Junius Avenue in Fergus Falls.
This free public event is an opportunity to explore the justice system and engage directly with judges, courthouse staff, and justice partners. Throughout the day, attendees can participate in a variety of activities designed to educate, inform, and inspire:
· Mini mock trials led by Judge Johnathan Judd (9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)
· Main mock trial in the historic courtroom featuring retired Judge Mark Hansen
· Watch the Battle Lake and New York Mills mock trial teams compete
· Courthouse tours at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. (meet in the rotunda)
· “You Be the Judge” selfie station
· Basket giveaway
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for community members to learn how our justice system works and meet the dedicated professionals who help uphold the rule of law every day,” said Trisha Mernitz, Otter Tail County Court Administrator. “We’re excited to give the public a closer look at the important work happening inside the courthouse.”
