
PEQUOT LAKES, MINN (KWAD) — Local country music fans are in for a last-minute treat this Labor Day weekend. Dockside Deck at Breezy Point has announced that award-winning singer-songwriter Aaron Simmons will perform on Sunday, August 31 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Simmons, originally from Stewartville, Minnesota, has carved out a strong reputation as one of the Midwest’s most exciting rising stars in country music. Known for his heartfelt storytelling and energetic stage presence, he was named Male Vocalist of the Year in 2024 by the Midwest Country Music Organization. His breakout debut album Third St SW climbed to #5 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart in 2020, while his 2023 follow-up Center Avenue cemented his place in the genre.
His single “Nobody’s Home in Wadena” struck a chord regionally, even topping Spotify’s Local Pulse: Minneapolis chart, while “Soldier in a Frame” earned wide acclaim for its emotional depth.
Over the years, Simmons has built a loyal fanbase across the country, performing in venues from Tennessee to New England and opening for nationally known acts such as Scotty McCreery, Parmalee, Tracy Byrd, Easton Corbin, Matt Stell, Elvie Shane, and Restless Road.
