County Commissioners Visit Dent To Share Updates And Hear From Residents

September 16, 2025─ OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MN – The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners held an Open House on September 15, 2025, in Dent, focusing on key infrastructure improvements, recycling initiatives, and enhanced resident services.

Commissioner Bucholz, District 1, expressed appreciation for community engagement at the event. “Thank you to everyone who came out to our meeting in Dent,” Bucholz said. “We appreciate you taking the time to stay informed about what’s happening in your county.”

Transportation and Infrastructure Updates

The Interim County Engineer, Rick West, reviewed the county’s comprehensive transportation plan and provided updates on several highway projects currently planned or underway in the region.

“We’re committed to maintaining and improving our transportation infrastructure to serve our residents throughout the county,” said West. “Moving these projects forward is important to ensuring our roads and bridges meet the needs of our communities.”

Environmental Initiatives

Staff presented updates on the Solid Waste department’s new single-sort recycling plan, which aims to simplify recycling for county residents while improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The initiative represents a significant step forward in the county’s long-range strategic planning.

Details about the Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) program, highlighting new opportunities for residents to safely dispose of hazardous materials, were presented as well. The meeting also featured the introduction of the new Solid Waste Public Information Officer, Natalee Yates, who will continue to educate the public about waste management and recycling programs throughout the county.

Digital Services Enhancement

Representatives from the Auditor-Treasurer’s office demonstrated new online services available to county residents, including the ability to pay taxes online, look up property parcels, and access the county’s Geographic Information System (GIS). These updates are designed to make county services more accessible and convenient for residents.
