Frazee Fly Girls post strong performances at conference meet and Alexandria invitational

ALEXANDRIA, Minn (KWAD) – The Frazee Fly Girls Dance Team stayed busy last week, competing at the Heart of the Lakes Jazz Conference meet and the Alexandria invitational, turning in solid performances across multiple divisions.

The Fly Girls opened the week last Thursday at the Heart of the Lakes Jazz Conference meet hosted by Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. The Junior Varsity Jazz team placed fifth overall, earning their strongest marks in the categories of Difficulty of Routine Choreography and Routine Effectiveness.

Frazee’s Varsity Jazz team also finished fifth at the conference meet, receiving their highest scores in Visual Effectiveness and Difficulty of Skills. Crosby-Ironton claimed first place, followed by Bagley in second, DGF in third, and Hawley in fourth.

On Saturday, January 10, the Fly Girls traveled to Alexandria for another competition. The Junior Varsity Jazz team improved on its finish, placing fourth overall and earning its top scores in Degree of Accuracy and Routine Effectiveness.

The Varsity Jazz team delivered a strong showing in Alexandria, finishing second overall behind DGF. Frazee scored particularly well in Difficulty of Skills, Visual Effectiveness, and Routine Effectiveness.

The Varsity Kick team also competed in Alexandria, finishing fourth overall. Pelican Rapids took first place, followed by DGF in second and Minnewaska Area in third. Frazee’s kick squad earned its highest scores in Creativity and Difficulty of Transitions and Formations.

The Fly Girls return to action Friday night at the Heart of the Lakes Conference Championships at Pelican Rapids High School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with competition beginning at 6 p.m. The championships will feature varsity teams only. Frazee’s varsity squads will then compete again Saturday at Yellow Medicine East.
