NEVIS, Minn. (KWAD) — A 14-year-old student was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to bring a gun to Nevis School and harm students, the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff Cory Aukes reported that at 3:14 p.m. on Sept. 11, Hubbard County Dispatch received a call from Nevis School about a student who had threatened to “shoot up the school, shoot a particular student, and then shoot himself.” Deputies responded and met with school administrators, who had already interviewed students who witnessed the threat.
Deputies then interviewed several students and “confirmed that the threats were made,” the sheriff’s office said. Deputies later met the suspect and his father at their rural Nevis residence, where the juvenile confessed to making the threats, according to the release.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of making terroristic threats and transported to the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center in Bemidji, where he remains in custody. His name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
No additional details were immediately provided.
