On 11/12/25, at 1:54pm, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a tractor versus train accident northwest of Henning.

A 67 year old male from Henning was the driver of the tractor that suffered minor injuries. The driver of the tractor was traveling eastbound on 290th Street approaching the CP Railroad and was unable to stop when he saw a train traveling southbound. The train and tractor collided at the railroad crossing. Henning Fire Department and Henning EMS responded to the scene and the driver of the tractor was transported to Perham Health. The train crew was not injured. The tractor was totaled and minor damage to the train and several neighbors responded to the scene to assist with clearing the machinery off of the railroad tracks.
