Panther Comeback Falls Short, Cowgirls Win In Section 6A GBB Matchup

PARKERS PRAIRIE, Minn.– The Parkers Prairie Panthers (4-3) hosted the Breckenridge Cowgirls (4-4) in the final game for both teams before Christmas in a Section 6A girls basketball matchup on Monday night.

Final: Breckenridge 74, Parkers Prairie 58

Johnica Bernotas led all scorers with 25 for the Cowboys.

Parkers Prairie had 10 girls enter the scoring column, led by Alyssa Revering with 17 points.

“A very interesting game tonight. 25 team fouls combined from both teams, which put us into some tough situations, and the Cowgirls took advantage, stretching a couple basket lead to 20 by the end of the first half,” said Parkers Prairie head girls basketball coach Hunter Haggenmiller. “Our girls battled all night though, and found a spark with 37 second half points. Proud of our compete level of our entire team despite the circumstances.”

Parkers Prairie moves to 2-4 against Section 6A opponents this season. The Cowgirls are 2-0 in section games for the 2025-26 campaign.

The Panthers (4-4) will be back in action in 2026 when they travel to New York Mills on Saturday, January 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. in the Section 6A regular season matchup.

Breckenridge (5-4) will play again on December 30 with a road matchup against Rothsay.
