BRECKENRIDGE, MINN (KWAD) — A deep field of Minnesota and North Dakota talent made for fast times and hard-earned finishes at the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Memorial on Thursday, where the Parkers Prairie, West Central Area, and Frazee cross country programs each had standout efforts.
The Parkers Prairie girls, led by senior Norah Froslee, finished eighth in the 12-team field. Froslee clocked 20:00.8, placing fifth overall in a field. She was followed by Kaylee Vogt’s 19th-place finish (21:41) and Chloe Patrick in 23rd place (22:07). Olivia Christians (29:05), Izabella Voga (29:06) and Jaeda Porter (29:16), finished 90th, 91st and 92nd, respectively.
On the boys’ side, West Central Area senior Carter Kjesbo ran to a sensational runner-up finish, crossing the line in 16:41.6 — a season-best time and less than a minute behind overall winner Luka Rout of Davies. The Knights also had strong varsity depth, placing fourth as a team with 103 points, behind only North Dakota giants Davies, Red River, and Fargo North. Their scoring pack held steady in the top 35, a promising sign for postseason aspirations. Michael Girard (18:44) placed 19th overall, Gavin Boll (19:59) as 31st, Aaron Biss (20:54) was 45th, and Reilly Mulroy (24:30) was 61st.
The West Central Area girls also fielded a complete team, led by Skylar LaRue’s 39th place finish (23:29). Nora Anderson (23:38) placed 44th, Natalea Olson (24:08) was 49th, Kyra Beyer (24:20) placed 52nd, Aidan Porter and Whitney Blume (24:38.8) tied for 61st place, and Cassidy Reuter (24:47) finished 65th. The WCA girls finished ninth overall with 208 points.
The Frazee girls placed 10th with 253 points. Lola Hoehne (22:56) was the first Hornet runner in with a 33rd place finish. Bristol Larsen (23:36) was 43rd, Rilynn Ruiz (25:25) was 68th, Brooklyn Riewer (26:09) placed 72nd, Caleith Pausch (28:13) was 86th, and Madi Perrine (28:52) finished 89th.
