FARGO, N.D. (KWAD) — Two deadly shootings that happened within 30 minutes of each other in Fargo early Sunday are connected to an “ongoing feud,” according to police.
“We don’t know the motive behind the feud, but it’s obviously escalated,” Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski said during a Monday press conference, confirming investigators believe both shootings are linked.
The first incident occurred just before 2 a.m. outside a nightclub in the 50 block of Broadway North. Police say 19-year-old Azeem Holmes of Fargo was killed, and two others — ages 21 and 23 — were wounded. One remains in critical condition.
Investigators have identified 20-year-old Tyrque Jones of Fargo as the suspected gunman in the first shooting. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on murder charges. Police say Jones should be considered armed and dangerous and urge anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.
The second shooting happened around 2:26 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 4700 block of 16th Avenue South, where 20-year-old Elijah Hughes of Fargo was pronounced dead. No suspect has been identified in that case.
Zibolski said there is “no indication” the violence is gang-related, but there appears to be “intense conflict between these two groups of individuals.”
