FERGUS FALLS, MN. – Senator Jordan Rasmusson today announces his intention to seek reelection in the Minnesota Senate for District 9, which includes communities in Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Traverse, and Wilkin counties.

“The past year has made one thing clear: leadership isn’t measured by slogans or theatrics – it’s measured by results,” said Rasmusson. “Our communities deserve proven conservative leadership that has stood up to the Walz agenda and won.”

In his capacity as Assistant Leader for the Senate Republican Caucus, Rasmusson has led efforts to expose human services fraud, protect taxpayers, and prioritize the needs of Greater Minnesota. While the Walz administration allowed fraud to run rampant, Rasmusson championed and passed legislation that expanded oversight into fraud, waste, and abuse in state agencies by giving stronger transparency tools to the Office of the Legislative Auditor.

“Every dollar stolen by fraudsters is an insult to Minnesota taxpayers. That is why I pushed for stronger oversight, transparency, and consequences for the administration responsible for the failure.”

When Democrats rolled out their 2025 budget proposal, Rasmusson partnered with local leaders to sound the alarm about a proposed $460 million property tax hike in the budget, which successfully blocked its passage. Rasmusson also successfully carried legislation to end taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants, a program which was projected to cost taxpayers hundreds of millions.

Rasmusson serves as the Ranking Member of the Human Services Committee and as a member of the Commerce and Consumer Protection and Capital Investment Committees. His legislative accomplishments include securing $300 million in funding for nursing homes across Minnesota, including 11 local facilities, funding for expanded rural ambulance and mental health services, and investments in local infrastructure.

“Minnesota needs effective leaders now more than ever,” said former State Representative Bud Nornes. “Jordan’s experience and willingness to take on tough fights to stop fraud and tax hikes is exactly what we need in representing us in St. Paul.”

A sixth-generation resident of Otter Tail County, Rasmusson lives in Fergus Falls with his wife, Emma, and works as a business consultant. They are active members of their community and at Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard. Rasmusson cited his deep connection to the area, community support, and professional experience outside of government as having shaped his “Minnesotans First” approach to legislating.
