FRAZEE, Minn (KWAD) – After coming up just short of a state berth last winter, the Frazee Fly Girls Dance Team returns with experience, depth, and determination heading into the 2025-26 season.

Head coach Hailey Brower, now in her second year at the helm and sixth overall in coaching, says this season brings a new level of trust and familiarity. “We know each other better — the dancers trust us as coaches, and we trust them to push their limits and take on more challenging choreography,” Brower said.

Brower leads a talented coaching staff made up entirely of Fly Girl alumni — Jocelyn Reuter (Varsity Assistant Coach), Calla Nundahl (JV Jazz Coach), and Caitlin Breitenfeldt (JV Kick Coach). Together, they’ll guide a strong group of returning letterwinners that includes juniors Alydia Mitchell, McKenzie Blauert, and a large core of sophomores in Jordan Nelson, Nevaeh Wirth, Cassie Puttbrese, Selah Wutzke, Lake Jager, and Lillian Eskelson.

Also back are Janaya Mitchell (9th), Mia Schermerhorn (8th), and Brylee Anderson (8th), who all gained valuable varsity experience last season. Another big addition is Izzy Doll, returning to the varsity level after a year away. Doll danced varsity as a seventh grader and is back on both the varsity kick and jazz teams this winter.

The program also celebrates the return of a junior varsity kick team for the first time in several years, giving more dancers the opportunity to grow within the program.

“We’ve got nearly the same varsity lineup as last year, which is a big advantage,” Brower said. “We only lost two seniors — Grace Doll and Ava Melideo-Fitch — and the girls have come into this season motivated and ready to build on what we accomplished.”

The Fly Girls compete in a talented Heart O’ Lakes Conference, where Crosby-Ironton, Hawley, and Bagley continue to set the standard in both kick and jazz. The same trio leads the Section competition, with Crosby-Ironton sweeping both categories last year, followed by Hawley and Aitkin rounding out the top three in each. Frazee finished fourth in jazz and sixth in kick, just shy of a state appearance.

Brower says the key to reaching the next level will be trust — among teammates and with their coaches. “It’s all about communication and confidence,” she said. “If the dancers trust the process and each other, we’ll continue to improve every performance.”
