
ROSEAU, Minn.– Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines volleyball (17-11) made the long trek up to Roseau for a Section 8AA Quarterfinals matchup against the Roseau Rams (22-6).
The Wolverines took command early, winning each of the first two sets by scores of 25-19 in set 1 and 25-21 in set two. Then the Rams led a charge to come back in the match. Set three was won by the Rams with a 25-21 score, same for set four with a 25-15 score.
It all came down to a final fifth set. WDC jumped out to a 4-1 lead and didn’t look back for a 15-6 victory to take the match and keep their season alive. Payton Gravelle led the Wolverines with an unofficial 20 kills and 3 service aces on the evening.
Roseau’s season comes to a close with a record of 22-7.
Wadena-Deer Creek advances to the Section 8AA Semi-Final volleyball match for the third straight season. They will take on the East Grand Forks Green Wave on Tuesday from Moorhead High School.
