
WADENA, Minn.– Thursday night meant another battle of Park Region Conference volleyball action. Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines looked to stay unbeaten (3-0) in PRC play when they hosted the Bertha-Hewitt Bears on ‘Orange Out’ night.
The themed night is a yearly tradition for WDC to raise awareness for the Princess Warrior 5K which raises money/awareness about childhood cancer. The 5k race is happening Saturday, September 27. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.
It was a good night for the Wolverines, who won in three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-16. The Wolverines were led in kills by Kennedy Ness (10 kills), Jada Dykhoff (9), Payton Gravelle (7), and Celia Rinio (7). Setter Ashley Pavek also came away with 3 service aces.
Pacing the Bears in attacks was Kendal Beyatt with 7 kills while Piper recorded 5 kills. Kyrstin Beyatt finished with 3 service aces.
Bertha-Hewitt (8-5) will play their next game on Saturday at home for the Bertha-Hewitt Tournament. First match begins at 9 a.m.
WDC (10-9) will be back in again next week for Homecoming hosting Barnesville on Tuesday night. Thursday, October 2 will be a matinee matchup in volleyball against follow top-ranked PRC rival Henning. First serve is at 1 p.m. The match against Henning will be broadcast on 101.7FM/AM920 KWAD and online at wadenaradio.com/kwad.
