
As Independence Day approaches, communities across the region are preparing to light up the night sky with dazzling fireworks displays. Whether you’re in the heart of lake country or planning to catch a small-town celebration, there are plenty of options to enjoy the festivities this week.
Bemidji – July 2nd at 10:10 p.m.
The Bemidji Jaycees kick off the celebration early with the “Red, White & Boom” fireworks as part of the 81st Annual Water Carnival on Lake Bemidji’s south shore. Fireworks typically launch around 10:10 PM. Viewers should avoid Cameron Park due to obstructed views and instead head to Diamond Point, Library Park, Paul Bunyan Park, or South Shore Park for the best vantage points
Nisswa – July 3rd at 10:15 p.m.
Nisswa kicks off the holiday early with its Freedom Days celebration on Wednesday, July 3rd. Festivities include turtle races, a parade, live music, and vendors throughout the day, capped off with fireworks at approximately 10:15 p.m. The show is visible from downtown Nisswa and the surrounding area near the community center. Shuttle service is available from Timberwood Church to ease parking concerns.
New York Mills – July 3rd at 10:15 p.m.
The New York Mills Civic & Commerce presents a fireworks display at Smith Park, immediately following the New York Mills Millers baseball game against the Bluffton Braves.
Pequot Lakes – July 3rd at 10:00 p.m.
“Stars & Stripes Days” in Pequot Lakes kick off with fireworks launched from the high school field at dusk on July 3—around 10:00 PM. Viewers can enjoy food vendors, live music, kids’ activities, and block-party vibes at Trailside Park, the school, or the TDS parking lot.
Brainerd – July 4th at 10:15 p.m.
Brainerd will host its annual Fourth of July celebration on Thursday night, with fireworks launching around 10:15 p.m. near Brainerd High School. The community celebration, known as “The American Celebration,” includes family-friendly activities and live entertainment leading up to the fireworks show.
Park Rapids – July 4th at Dusk
In Park Rapids, the Rotary Club is sponsoring a fireworks display on July 4th that begins at dusk. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and find a spot along Main Street or in Heartland Park for prime viewing.
Alexandria – July 4th at 10:00 p.m.
The annual “Star Storm” fireworks show over Lake Darling in Alexandria will begin at 10:00 p.m. on the Fourth. Hosted by Arrowwood Resort, the show is free and open to the public, though non-resort guests will be charged $20 for parking. Spectators are also encouraged to tune in to 100.7 KIK FM or Cool 94.3 FM for a synchronized musical experience.
Detroit Lakes – July 4th at 10:00 p.m.
Detroit Lakes will host its Fourth of July fireworks at 10:00 p.m. over the waters of Detroit Lake. The show is best viewed from the City Beach or along West Lake Drive. With the fireworks launched from two barges, spectators can expect a panoramic waterfront experience.
Perham – July 4th Following Baseball Game
In Perham, the fireworks will follow the Perham Pirates baseball game at Krueger Field on July 4th. The event offers a classic combination of summer traditions: baseball and fireworks, all in one place.
Crosslake – July 5th
Celebrate America’s 55th annual “Celebrate America” fireworks over Cross Lake on July 5. Fireworks launch from Sand Island—ideal viewing from the eastern shore or from your boat.
