Area Memorial Day Programs

Across central Minnesota there are several Memorial Day programs to honor those who have served.

 

Here is a list of area programs;

Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church “Mountain Men Annual Memorial Day Dinner.” 

  • Join us for a Cemetery Ceremony honoring our veterans at approximately 10:00 AM
  • Monday 11 a.m to 1 p.m.
  • Menu: BBQ’s, Hot Dogs, Ham, Baked Beans, Potato, Salad, Watermelon, Bars
  • Entertainment: Greg Lehrke & Nathan Hanson 11:30-12:30 p.m.
  • Free will donation
  • A Thrivent Action Event- All funds will be given to assist Area Fire Departments

Deer Creek American Legion Memorial Day Program

  • Monday May 25, 2026
  • Deer Creek Community Center
  • Breakfast: 7:30 A.M. t0 10:00 A.M.
  • Menu: French Toast, Egg bake, Sausage, Orange Juice, Coffee, and Milk
  • Free will donation
  • Program at Community Center at 10:30
  • Speaker: Jim Bakkila US Army retired and Otter tail County Veteran Service Officer.

 

Wadena Veterans Park Memorial Day Program

  • Flag Raising Ceremony 7:00 at the Cemetery by the Mausoleum
  • Memorial Day Program 9:00 am at the Wadena Veterans Park
  • Welcome- David A Anderson Commander VFW Post 3922
  • Invocation- Pastor Samantha Carlson Bethany Lutheran Church
  • National Anthem- Wadena Area Community Band, Steve Anderson is the director
  • Pledge of Allegiance- David A Anderson Commander VFW Post 3922
  • Placing of the Wreaths- VFW Ladies Auxiliary
  • Memorial Day Address- Pastor Amos Self USMC Family Life Church
  • Band Selections- Wadena Area Community Band, Steve Anderson is the director
  • Benediction- Pastor Samantha Carlson Bethany Lutheran Church
  • Firing Squad Salute- Elmer Goch VFW Post 3922 Honor Guard
  • Taps- Wadena Area Community Band, Steve Anderson is the director
  • Dismissal- David A Anderson Commander VFW Post 3922

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at the memorial auditorium.

There will also be a memorial program to honor the servicemen and women who died at sea. 

  • This Memorial program will be held at the veterans park dock approximately ten minutes following the memorial program.
