Area Tennis Standouts Ready to Compete at Girls State Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (KWAD) — The state’s best high school tennis players will take the court beginning Thursday, October 23rd for the 2025 MSHSL Individual State Championships for both Singles and Doubles championships, and the Lakes Area will be well represented across all three classes. Players from Staples-Motley, Wadena-Deer Creek, Crosby-Ironton, Minnewaska Area, Osakis, Morris Area, Perham/New York Mills, Pequot Lakes, and Alexandria all earned spots in the field, showcasing the depth of Central Minnesota tennis talent.


Class A — Singles (FULL BRACKET)

At the Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis, the Class A singles bracket featured several familiar names from the Heart O’ Lakes and West Central Conferences.

Staples-Motley’s Ronnie Noska represents the Staples-Motley Cardinals and faces Emma Siert of Lake City in opening-round play. In one of the morning’s most anticipated matchups, Crosby-Ironton’s Tori Oehrlein will meet Olivia Danielson of Minnewaska Area, pairing two of the state’s top players in a first-round battle. Osakis senior Leah Maddock will face Ruby Leach of East Grand Forks, while Morris Area/WCA’s Lydia Sweep matches up with Keyana Haler of Class A State team champion St. James.

Class A — Doubles (FULL BRACKET)

The local flavor extended into doubles, where three area schools are matched up in the same draw. Wadena-Deer Creek’s Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Endres will play Pequot Lakes’ Nikki Crocker and Emme Sullivan in an all-Lakes Area opening-round matchup. Meanwhile, Osakis teammates Bella Weisser and Ava Drevlow will face Isla Dille and Molly Patten of Litchfield, and Minnewaska Area’s Alia Randt and Rachel Rankin battle Belle Plaine’s Nina Messer and Ella Thorstad.

Class AA — Singles (FULL BRACKET)

Over at Lifetime Bloomington South, Perham/New York Mills sophomore Kaia Anderson will face Kendall Rice of Southwest Christian. Anderson earned her berth by capturing the Section 8AA title, capping an impressive season for the Yellowjackets co-op.

Class AAA — Doubles (FULL BRACKET)

At the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus, Alexandria’s Kennedy and Addison Stevenson represented the Cardinals in the Class AAA doubles bracket. The sisters open play against Ana Medina and Eliana Elder of Rochester Mayo, a strong pairing from the AAA team champions.

All Round One match-ups in Singles begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, with Round two starting at noon. The Semifinal round begins at 8:00 am on Friday, with championship and third place matches scheduled at 11:30.

Round One Doubles Matches begin at 10:00 am on Thursday. Round Two begins at 2:00 that same afternoon. Semifinal matches will be held at 8:00 on Friday morning with the state championships and third place matches at 11:30 in their respective locations.
