DETROIT LAKES, MINN (KWAD) – After nearly four decades in law enforcement, Todd Glander, the longtime sheriff of Becker County Sheriff’s Office, announced today that he will not seek re-election.
In a statement released to the public, Glander said the decision follows “hours of prayer, reflection, and heartfelt discussions” with his wife. He has served Becker County for 38 years, including 11 years as sheriff over three terms, after beginning his career in 1988. Glander confirmed he will continue to serve in his role through the end of his current term, which concludes next January.
“Since being elected, I have held high expectations of respect and professionalism from my staff,” Glander said, adding that those standards will remain unchanged as the department continues serving county residents. He praised the dedication and service of deputies, communications officers, corrections officers, administrative staff, bailiffs, and courthouse security, noting their “exemplified acts of courage, bravery, and honor.”
Glander also expressed gratitude to the community for its continued support of law enforcement and thanked the individuals who will carry the department forward in the future.
In closing, Glander offered personal thanks to friends, family, and especially his wife, whom he credited as his constant support since the day he answered a local newspaper ad for a “Jailer” early in his career.
“Thank you, Becker County, for your trust in me and allowing me to serve as your Sheriff,” Glander said. “May God continue to bless and watch over this county and all who serve.”
