(KWAD) – Area students preparing for the upcoming school sports season can take advantage of free sports physicals being offered by Essentia Health this week.

The free walk-in physicals are available for students entering grades 7 through 12 who plan to participate in school athletics or other extracurricular activities. Most students typically need a sports physical before participating in activities during 7th and 10th grades, and each physical is valid for three years.

The first walk-in clinic will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Essentia Health Brainerd Orthopedics Clinic. A second opportunity will be offered Thursday, Aug. 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Essentia Health Staples Clinic.

There is no charge for the sports physicals. Parents and guardians are reminded that any student under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

No appointment is necessary.
