OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. — The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners has declared May 8, 2026, as Child Care Provider Appreciation Day, recognizing the work of licensed caregivers who serve families across the county.

The proclamation honors 125 licensed family child care providers, child care center teachers and early childhood caregivers who serve more than 1,300 children and their families in Otter Tail County.

Child care providers offer safe, supportive environments where children grow and learn. Beyond caregiving, they serve as teachers, mentors, and trusted adults in the lives of young children. They also play a key role in the local economy by supporting working parents and guardians by supporting local business and the broader workforce in Otter Tail County.

“As a grandpa, I know firsthand how much it means to have someone you trust caring for the little kids in your life,” said Otter Tail County Commissioner Dan Bucholz. “These providers show up every single day with patience and dedication, and I don’t think we can thank them enough for what they do.”

On May 8, Otter Tail County encourages residents to thank child care providers and early childhood caregivers for their dedication and compassion. A kind word, a note or a simple thank-you can go a long way in recognizing the work they do every day.
