
WADENA, Minn.– Parkers Prairie (5-1) kept their strong season going with a big road win against Wadena-Deer Creek (2-4) by a score of 54-6.
Coming into the Week 7 matchup, Parkers Prairie was ranked 6th in Class A with a 49.3 QRF. They showed why with big performances on both sides of the football.
The Panthers offense scored on the first drive of the game thanks to a Gavin Boesl 19-yard rushing touchdown. Gavin Boesl would also score a 30 yard running score and finish with 90 yards rushing on the night. Sophomore Nolan Boesl also scored a 34 yard rushing touchdown and had 41 yards total on the ground, along with a 1/3 for 22 passing yards. Isaac Ruckheim totaled 98 rushing yards and a touchdown on the night. Zach Ruckheim found pay dirt twice for 2 rushing touchdown and 68 yards toting the rock. Jorge Martin-Pina scored a touchdown late for Parkers Prairie’s final score of the night.
It was also a stout defensive performance for the Panthers. Their defense caused two first half turnovers, one of which resulted in a Sam Kreuger scoop and score. Parkers Prairie was able to score 14 points off turnovers in the contest. Krueger also had one catch for 22 yards receiving.
Offensively, Wadena-Deer Creek got their first score of the game in the second half on a 65 yard rushing touchdown from Micah Segovia. With the run, Segovia scored his first career varsity touchdown to put the Wolverines on the board. In the receiving game, Tyler Phipps had 1 catch for 11 yards.
