COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (KWAD) — The Parkers Prairie girls cross country team put together one of their most complete performances of the season Thursday afternoon, winning the Johnnie Bread Invitational at St. John’s Prep.

The Panthers scored 50 points in the nine-team field, well ahead of second-place PACT/Legacy (81) and third-place Hinckley-Finlayson (92). The team’s combined time of 1:53:27.9 and 22:41 average reflected both their front-end speed and their ability to stay tightly packed through the critical middle of the race. Senior Norah Froslee once again showed her big-meet poise, running confidently near the lead from the opening mile. She held her form over the challenging final hills to finish second overall in 20 minutes, 59.1 seconds, just 10 seconds behind individual winner Lauren Stemper of North Lakes Academy. Eighth-grader Chloe Patrick provided some spark, surging into the top five midway through the race and never let go, finishing fourth in 21:43.6. The middle of Parkers Prairie’s lineup might have been the biggest key to the team title. Sophomore Kaylee Vogt ran a smart, even-paced race to finish eighth in 22:05.8, and senior Sophie Pfeffer closed hard for tenth in 22:27.1. Those two performances, combined with Patrick’s and Froslee’s top-four finishes, left the Panthers comfortably ahead of the rest of the field. Rounding out the scoring five was Izabella Vogt, who placed 38th in 26:12.1, and Olivia Christians, just a few seconds behind in 43rd (26:30.1), providing valuable depth and insurance. Senior Greta Gassmann also crossed in 61st (31:00.1) to complete the varsity lineup and contribute to the team’s depth and training pack.

The Parkers Prairie boys didn’t field the same front-running firepower as their female counterparts but gained valuable experience in a strong field of more than 80 runners. Jayme O’Brien led the way with a 53rd-place finish in 21:49.2, showing steady improvement in his pacing and late-race kick.
Freshman Landon Hermanson continued his development with a 70th-place finish in 24:09.6, giving the Panthers a youthful presence for future seasons. Against a meet dominated by St. John’s Prep (team champions with 73 points), the Parkers Prairie boys held their own and continue to build toward conference and section competitions.

The Panthers next meet will be the Ottertail Central Invite at Balmoral Golf Club in Battle Lake on Thursday, October 2nd.
