At 509 PM CDT, a large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Cuyuna Country State Park, or 11 miles northeast of Brainerd, moving east at 30 mph. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW! HAZARD…Damaging tornado. SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT…You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible. TAKE COVER NOW! HAZARD…Damaging tornado. SOURCE…Weather spotters confirmed tornado 1 or 2 miles west of north Long Lake at 443 PM. IMPACT…You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible. At 439 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located over Gull Lake, or 10 miles northwest of Brainerd, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD…Damaging tornado and golf ball size hail. SOURCE…Weather spotters confirmed tornado northwest of Gull Lake at 436 PM CDT. IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern Wadena County and eastern Otter Tail County, including the communities of Wadena, Bluffton, and Blue Grass. The warning has been extended until 4:00 pm.
At 3:17 PM, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Bluffton, approximately 36 miles southeast of Detroit Lakes. The storm is moving northeast at 30 miles per hour. Weather spotters have reported a funnel cloud.
Hazard: Tornado.
Potential Impacts: Flying debris, damage to homes, vehicles, and trees. Those without shelter are at significant risk.
Immediate Action:
Take cover now in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows. If you are outside, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, seek shelter immediately.
