OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn. —— University of Minnesota President Rebecca Cunningham visited the East Otter Tail County Fair Saturday, July 25, 2026, touring the fairgrounds and presenting the county’s Farm Family of the Year award.
Otter Tail County Commissioner Dan Bucholz, District 1, joined University of Minnesota Extension staff and 4-H Youth Ambassador Lucy Minten to lead President Cunningham on a tour of the fairgrounds. The tour included stops at popular food vendors and 4-H areas.
President Cunningham also presented the Farm Family of the Year award to Dennis and Melissa Fronning during her visit. Following the presentation, she posed for photos with Otter Tail County Commissioners and Otter Tail Lakes Country’s Otter mascot.
The visit was part of a broader stop at the fair that included media interviews, a meet-and-greet with fairgoers at the University’s outdoor booth, and a celebration marking the University of Minnesota’s 175th anniversary.
“It was an honor to welcome President Cunningham to our fair and to Otter Tail County,” Bucholz said. “As a dairy farmer myself, I know how much the University’s research and Extension programs mean to farm families here. I was glad to show her what makes our county and fair so special.”
