Amateur Hour is a new bi-weekly town baseball segment covering all of the squads across central Minnesota hosted by CJ Baumgartner!

Mondays we recap scores, highlights and standings. Fridays we preview the games through the weekend. If you are a coach, player, or fan – we want your help! Friday, June 23

Paynesville – 3 @ Nimrod – 4 (Nimrod Tournament)

  • Jason Steinke wins it for the Gnats on a walk-off 2-run single

Kensington – 4 @ Urbank – 9 

  • Matt Ferley throws a complete game on the mound for the Bombers during Urbanks weekend festivities

Sebeka – 4 @ New York Mills – 13

  • Dashaun Robinson gets his first win on the mound for the  Millers. He threw 5 innings allowing only 1 run while collecting 7 strikeouts.
  • Max Lake led the Stingers with 3 hits and 2 RBIs

Vergas – 2 @ Deer Creek – 3

  • Post game fireworks held in celebration of Deer Trail Days

Dent @ Midway (in Menahga) – PPD, game will be made up at a later date

Vergas @ Bluffton – (Doubleheader)

  • Braves hit 4 home runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Loons

New York Mills – 12 @ Clarissa – 4

  • Game was moved from Browerville back to Clarissa due to rain
  • Jonah Johnson put together a 4 hit game with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs for the Millers
  • Logan Ridell hits his first home run of the season

Wolf Lake – 0 @ Park Rapids – 8

Sebeka @ Staples – (Doubleheader)

  • Game 1 – 8-0 Sebeka – Brayden Brinkman throws 6 shutout innings for the Stingers with 8 punch-outs
  • Game 2 – 13-1 Sebeka – Hank Tellers goes 2-4 with a 3-run home run, Max Lake goes 3-3 with a walk, double and 2RBIs, and Levi Stevens records a triple and an RBI as the Stingers sweep the doubleheader against the Lumberbats

Champlin Park Logators – 2 @ Nimrod – 7 (Nimrod)

  • Gnats defend Dick Stigman field to win the 17th annual Nimrod Tournament
  • Paul Funk had 3 hits and 3 RBIs in the win while Taylor Carlson caught all 21 innings of action for the Gnats
  • Jackson Weniger and Coyle both go deep for Nimrod in the victory
