The Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization held its annual “Lunch with First Responders” on Wednesday in the WDC Elementary cafeteria.

The event was held in honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, which took place on Tuesday.

Members of local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, paramedics, EMTs, etc. were invited to enjoy a meal with the kids. Several responders attending were able to see their child or grandchild attending who are WDC Elementary school.

The event was created to foster a positive relationship between WDC students and local law enforcement and first responders says the WDC Elementary PTO. They also want to introduce students to emergency personnel in a non-emergency situation and gives students a chance to thank first responders for keeping us safe!

The Lunch with First Responders has been held every year since 2016, according to the WDC Elementary PTO, except for 2021 due to COVID-19.
